My name is Jonathan. I’m the son of two Marine drill sergeants and have lived all over the southern United States. My grandmother started taking me to church as soon as I could walk, which began my love/hate relationship with religion. I love studying the Bible, theology and church history, because I’m a geek, and because I believe, regardless of your religious views, people should know what they believe AND why they believe it (and “Because my pastor said so” IS NOT acceptable). Despite hitting a few roadblocks from time to time, I am still a Christian. I’m not perfect – I’m in repair; I’m not the man I want to be, but by the grace of God, I’m getting there. So, you might be wondering why this blog is titled Religion Sucketh. I was even asked by one person if I have something against religion, and my answer was “yes, and no”. If we’re talking about religion according to James 1:27, I have no problem. But if we’re talking about what mankind has turned religion into, then yes, I have a problem. It is in that vein that I say religion sucks. On this site you’ll get a little humor, a little satire, and a bit of seriousness. Many of the posts will have something to do with religion, but from time to time I do cover other topics.
